Types of Memberships
Ordinary Membership - An Ordinary Member shall be entitled to the use of all the Club’s facilities and have the right to participate in the management of the Club’s affairs, to attend and vote at General Meetings and to hold office in the Club.
Privileged Membership - Any member who has been a member for a continuous period of thirty (30) years and has reached the age sixty-five (65) may become a Privileged Member, and shall not be subjected to the payment of monthly subscription as stated in Clause 21. A Privileged Member can transfer his/her membership as provided in Clause 4.11 and Clause 4.12 upon fulfilling the conditions above and remains as Privileged Member until his/her demise. A Privileged Member who has disposed off his Ordinary Membership is entitled to the use of all the Club’s facilities but has no right to participate in the management of the Club’s affairs and to vote in General Meetings.
Associate Membership - Associate Membership shall be restricted to the registered spouse of an Ordinary Member and shall be entitled to the use of all the Club’s facilities upon payment of the monthly subscription stipulated in Clause 21.
Honorary Membership - The Committee may in its discretion invite distinguished persons to be Honorary Members of the Club for the period of their stay in Kota Kinabalu. Honorary Members and their spouses are entitled to use all the Club’s facilities.
Honorary Life Membership - An Annual General Meeting of the Club may, on the recommendation of the Committee, confer Honorary Life Membership on any member who has rendered valuable services to the Club. The recommendation must specifically elaborate in detail what the member has done for the promotion of golf not only within the Club but elsewhere, advancement of the Club interest and objective, and any other related matters such as length of service in whatever capacities in the Club to enable members to agree and support that such distinguished recognition as recommended by the Committee deserves the members’ support.
Absent Membership - Any member who notifies the Honorary Secretary in writing of his absence from Malaysia for a continual period of more than one (1) year shall be entitled to be treated as an Absent Member for the period of his absence and any member approved to be classified as an Absent Member shall be entitled to be so classified for a maximum period of not more than three (3) years from the date of notification.
Corporate Membership - Corporate Membership may be granted by the Committee to corporations, bodies or establishments on such terms and conditions including the payment of fees as the Committee may from time to time prescribe in the Club’s By-Laws.
Recreational Membership - A Recreational Member shall be person approved by the General Committee and who belongs to an association, body corporate or other organization, whose members wish to become Recreation Members of the Club. Application of this category of membership shall be made by association, body corporate or other organization using the prescribed form available and submitted to the Honorary Secretary of the Kinabalu Golf Club.
